Final Weekend: Letitia Carson Exhibit at the SMJ House

September 27 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

See the Letitia Carson: Oregon Black Pioneer exhibit at the SMJ House before it’s gone!

SCEC partnered with the SMJ House this summer to bring this exhibit to Eugene. It highlights the story of Letitia Carson, one of the first Black pioneers in Oregon. Letitia’s story is remarkable because she was a property owner, after successfully suing to retrieve her property that was stolen from her after her husband died. It’s a story of (at least partial) justice and the tenacity and pride of one woman who was determined to make a better life for her family.

Come tour the house and see the traveling exhibit, brought to us by Oregon Black Pioneers, which will be ending on September 30th. The panels and exhibits will spark discussion in your group.
