Letters From the Trail presentation at Luper Cemetery

May 27 @ 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm

pioneer woman letters from the trail history presentation for kids

Join us for a wonderful talk by Mrs. Annabelle Smith of the Oregon Trail, in 1856. Mrs. Smith has just arrived last Fall after a 6 month journey overland with her family on the wagon train, and has stories (kid friendly) to tell about the trip.

This is a special event hosted by the Luper Cemetery and is free to the public. Bring your whole family! Mrs. Smith will have some letters to hand out, written by children on the Oregon Trail, detailing their thoughts, feelings and experiences along the journey. Receive your own letter to take home! (The letters are ficional, written by our Executive Director, Karen, based on journals and historical artifacts from the trail.)

Memorial Day: Monday May 27th, 12:30pm

Location: Luper Cemetery in Junction City, OR

Directions: Head North on River Road from Eugene. Turn left on Beacon Dr. (You will see a Nature Discovery School on the corner there.) Go down about 1/2 a mile and look for the sign on your right that says Luper Pioneer. Turn down that driveway and follow it back to the cemetery. If you hit Prairie Road on Beacon you’ve gone too far.
