Indigenous Day: Learning for adults, teens and teachers

Join us for a wonderful cultural presentation with Deitrich Peters of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde!
Join us for learning about Indigenous culture, including how to talk about Native people today, especially for those who are teachers or aspiring teachers. Deitrich (Deitz) has graciously agreed to share elements of his regalia and will play flute music, talk about his culture, and answer questions. Together we will make a simple craft related to the four directions and the medicine wheel. Learn about the how local indigenous people are reclaiming culture and connection to the Earth. SCEC Executive Director Karen Rainsong will display items of Kalapuya material culture. Find out how SCEC has adapted Grand Ronde online free curriculum for all ages at library presentations.
