Sherrill: Karen’s “Prairie Godmother”

Sherrill Necessary was an important volunteer and friend of the Executive Director, Karen Rainsong. Sherrill loved to sew and created several cotton “day dresses” for Karen in the 1860’s style. She researched patterns and fabrics with Karen, and donated her time to sew the two dresses. They are important pieces of our ladies’ wear collection today. She also helped serve tea at our Grandparent’s Pioneer Tea and helped at other events. Sherrill and her husband Doug opened their home to our Historic Homes Walking Tour several times, helping us raise money. They both passed away in 2023 and are very missed.
