SUMMARY:Los Pueblos Summer Camp June 24-28
DESCRIPTION:Los Pueblos Summer Camp 2024\nSinging Creek Educational Center\, Cottage Grove\, OR\nThis fun day camp is for Guatemalan children ages 6 – 11 in Cottage Grove and is funded by a grant from the Yarg Family Foundation and the Roundhouse Foundation. Logistical support is provided by the Cottage Grove Family Resource Center. Low income families receive this camp for free. \nKids will be learning about the history and culture of Guatemala and Mexico. Activities include cooking\, music\, dance\, games\, arts\, movement and story time. Transportation and meals are provided. Our instructor is Janet Hernandez\, a Latina mother and community member. DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Native American Cultural Encampment in June at Roaring River Park in Scio\, Oregon\, presented by the Native American Cultural Encampments with Deitrich Peters and friends. Learn how to put up a tipi\, try making your own plant cordage\, make a leather pouch\, buy some Native made items\, buy a raffle ticket\, enjoy a free meal on Sunday afternoon\, and see some amazing pow-wow style dancing! Deitz will explain about elements of the regalia worn by the dancers and what they symbolize (cultural and personal significance). This is a great way to get to know Native people and culture in a relaxed\, informal and friendly way.Learn more at: https://naculturalencampment.org/ \nSCEC will have educational opportunities for children and families from 10 – 6 on Saturday and Sunday. Try the atlatl (spear throwing tool) and make an animal mask.
