She will be talking about the Applegate family of Yoncalla\, Oregon and their relationship with the Kalapuya people of the area. Chief Halo of the Kalapuya tribe and Jesse Applegate were friends and the friendship continues to this day between descendants. \nHear more about this unique friendship\, some of the history of the Applegate house and the family. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a wonderful cultural presentation with Deitrich Peters of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde!\nJoin us at the Eugene Public Library in April with Deitrich Peters of the Grand Ronde Tribe. Deitrich (Deitz) has graciously agreed to share elements of his regalia and will play flute music\, talk about his culture\, and answer questions. SCEC Executive Director Karen Rainsong will attend and display items of Kalapuya material culture. This talk is great for families although children under 6 may have a hard time sitting still for the 45 minute presentation.
