The staff at ART will be leading a talk about horse care\, teaching you how to brush the horses and giving a riding lesson in the covered corral. We will make some horse art and play horse themed games in the yurt\, including a horse drawing lesson. Learn about how important horses were and still are to Native people and pioneers. DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Native American Cultural Encampment in August at Cascacdia County Park in Sweethome\, Oregon\, presented by the Native American Cultural Encampments with Deitrich Peters and friends. Learn how to put up a tipi\, try making your own plant cordage\, make a leather pouch\, buy some Native made items\, buy a raffle ticket\, enjoy a free meal on Sunday afternoon\, and see some amazing pow-wow style dancing! Deitz will explain about elements of the regalia worn by the dancers and what they symbolize (cultural and personal significance). This is a great way to get to know Native people and culture in a relaxed\, informal and friendly way.Learn more here: https://naculturalencampment.org/ \nSCEC will have educational opportunities for children and families from 10 – 6 on Saturday and Sunday ( Aug 24th – 25th). Try the atlatl (spear throwing tool) in the field and do some free crafts like make your own animal mask.
