SUMMARY:Travel in Time History Field Trip at the SMJ House
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a fun afternoon learning about Oregon history at the SMJ House in Eugene!\nThis hands-on history field trip is best for ages 5 -12. Come learn about the history of the house and pioneers\, the Kalapuya people who have lived here since time immemorial\, and the fur trappers that lived in the Willamette Valley. We will have three groups that rotate every 30 minutes and explore different parts of history inside the house. Each group will get to touch and explore items from history and participate in hands on learning. Taught by Singing Creek Educational Center staff (and SMJ House staff) this field trip is perfect for homeschoolers and will work for varying ages. Please have a parent or guardian with you children at all times.  \nCost: $7 per child\, adults and ages 2 and under are free. Parking is next to the house and is free.No refunds; tickets are transferable to another family if you cannot make it for some reason.  \nPre-registration only for this event\, scroll down on this page.

DESCRIPTION:Join us Feb 17th and 18th at the Lane County Fairgrounds at the annual Frontier Heritage Fair!9am to 5pm on Saturday9am to 4pm on Sunday \nThis indoor family-friendly event features booths\, exhibits\, crafts\, artisans and live music! See the  the frontier\, wild west and Civil War era goods and demonstrations.We will be doing our always popular corn dollie making craft! Create your own boy or girl doll and dress it up with clothing you create. (Suggested Donation $1 per doll) \nThere is a small entrance fee to come into the fair but it’s well worth it! \nAdmission $5\, Kids 12 and under Free\, when accompanied by an adult. \nWe hope to see you there. \nIf you want to volunteer for a shift at our booth you can get in free. DESCRIPTION:Calling all Adventure! Children’s Museum members\nSign up for a FREE Travel in Time field trip with the Singing Creek Educational Center at the SMJ house in Eugene! Pre-registration only. \nDATE: Saturday February 24th\, 1pm -2:30pmADDRESS: 303 Willamette Street\, Eugene\, Oregon 97401Enter Driveway at Third and Pearl Streets541 484-0808 \nOnly 20 lucky children will be registered to come experience hands-on history in the area’s only Victorian house museum. SCEC staff will teach the Kalapuya Ways Native American presentation for 30 minutes\, then you get a house tour and learn about pioneers and early settlers for 30 minutes. Round out your trip with a self-guided hike on Skinners Butte just behind the house. \nLearn more about our Travel in Time field trips here. This trip does not include the fur trapper instruction\, just the Kalapuya and pioneer talks. \nThis special event is ONLY for Adventure! Children’s Museum members. Field trip is for ages 5 – 12 years old. Please sign up below. First come\, first served.
