Fun Classes for Kids and Families!

looking-at-creaturesAt Singing Creek Center, we offer classes and workshops for kids and families that feature hands-on activities on many different topics. Classes and Workshops  often include an art project, educational game and outdoor time. A knowledgeable volunteer or expert leads us in exploratory learning activities and we usually make something to take home.  Some previous topics have included: Bats and Creepy Creatures, Animals of Oregon, Dragonfly Day and Birding on the Farm. Some of our classes require that children must be accompanied by an adult, and others (usually for older kids) can be a drop-off situation. Check details for each class. Pre-registration is often required and the ages for the class will be posted. Usually you will pay at the door.  Check our Events Calendar to see upcoming classes and workshops or scroll down on this page.

Have an idea for a topic your group would like to explore? Talk to us about your ideas and needs. We love learning about nature in a fun and holistic way. Check out our YouTube Channel for videos from some classes.

MORE DETAILS

What to bring:
You are welcome to bring snacks, water bottle, and a camera. Children must be signed in to the class or workshop by a parent or authorized adult. Please dress for the weather; these events may involve outdoor time. You will need to sign a liability release (click to download pdf) for each time you visit.

Dogs:
There is a friendly dog who lives at the museum- Holly, a black lab. She likes to play and is still growing out of her puppy phase, so be aware that she sometimes carries big sticks in her mouth which can brush up against your legs. Children should be aware of Holly before they come, and please make special arrangements for any child who is uncomfortable around dogs. Please do not bring a dog to the museum without special permission.

Parking:
There is limited parking for cars at the facility, and before your visit you should let us know how many cars you will need to park on site. If you need to bring a bus or oversize vehicle, please let us know beforehand.

Inclement Weather:
If you are pre-registered for an event, check our website and your text messages/email if inclement weather is expected, as we will attempt to notify you if we need to cancel.

Amenities:
At the schoolhouse we have a standard bathroom, but the bathrooms at the granary are port-a-potty type. Visitors should plan to bring a water bottle. There is a hand washing station. There is no land line telephone at the schoolhouse/ granary but your instructor or tour guide will have a cell phone. Please bring your own cell phone while visiting.
